Circled by challenges, NYD stands as a vessel to encourage, nurture and develop young talented Indonesian dancers so that one day they can live their dreams. Rooted in ballet, NYD embraces all forms of dance, and therefore continue to invite various dancing elements in Indonesia, to initiate a fruitful collaboration in enriching this nation’s cultural life and putting Indonesia on the map of international dance scene.

In its implementation, NYD will carry out routine activities in form of stage activity and human resources development activities, as well as to make NYD special in the community.

Annual Performance

Normally NYD holds one Season Performance every year. This once a year presentation features a variety of dance forms ranging from routine Classical Ballet repertoire, Contemporary Ballet, Jazz, Indonesian Traditional Dance to studio style Hip Hop.

Visiting Choreographers

In addition to its own Resident Choreographers, NYD also occasionally invites visiting choreographers from abroad and domestic. To us, this program serves as the cross-cultural arena for sharing, learning and growing for everyone involved.

Music and Story

Music and dance are like inseparable siblings, and NYD strives for original music composition and/or live music accompanied whenever possible.

NYD, again when condition allows, also prefers original story when working on a full dance repertoire, may it be a contribution from NYD’s own, or friends of NYD who had kindly let us adapt and interpret their stories.

Workshop

To encourage a shared and sound growth within the company, NYD holds workshop involving experts of related disciplines that cover management, dance, music, stage make up & costume, arts in our life etc.

Touring

Touring Performance, in Indonesia and hopefully abroad. An ambitious aim as it may sound, but NYD still puts it as one of its priorities. Because to us it would be an instrumental medium for cross-enriching experiences between the larger (and more diverse) audience and NYD.
